This past month I have been in Ethiopia preparing for our move here and teaching in the Bible Institute. It has been a profitable and instructive time.

I have been able to take care of some of the initial paper work including acquiring an Ethiopian driver’s license. It only took three days and three trips to the office. Each time there was another form or stamp I had to have. They just did not tell me I needed it the time before. Finally, on the last day, after waiting in a line for about three and a half hours, I received my license. I did not have to take a driving test or an eye test. They based my new license on the one I have from South Africa.

I was also able to take a trip up country with Gene Worley. This trip of about two hundred and forty miles and it took eight hours each way. Between the road construction, the poor road conditions and herds of animals, driving in Ethiopia is a unique experience.

During the trip we drove through many towns and areas where there is not even one gospel witness of any kind. The need for this country to hear the gospel is overwhelming. The Moslem have pledged to build a mosque every five kilometers along the main roads. We pray that God will allow us to see more churches than that planted in this ancient and needy country.

We covet your prayers as we begin the steps to enter this field which is ripe unto harvest.
