Testimonies

Rex:

"I grew up in Wichita’s Baptist Tabernacle with Dr. Art Wilson as pastor. I was saved as a teenager. While attending Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, I surrendered to the mission field. My heart had been touched for the country of Ethiopia; however, at that time missionaries were leaving because of the communist revolution.

In 1972 Ginnie and I were married. In September of 1972, we began working at the Southwest Baptist Church in Tulsa. We moved to Enfield, Connecticut in 1976 and began our ministry there as an assistant directing the youth, the music, the printing ministry and helping in the Christian School. In 1988 God made it clear that He was calling us to South Africa. We were approved by the BBFI in May 1989 and arrived in South Africa in April 1990.

While in Delft, a part of Cape Town, we have seen God establish the Faith Baptist Church with her own property and a 4,000 square foot building. The church has also begun a mission work in a nearby community called Kalkfontein. The church has purchased property there, placed a forty-foot container to be used for services, and fenced the property.

In 2003 God began to direct us to Ethiopia. Therefore, we began to prepare the work in Delft for our departure. God has given the church a pastor who has been trained in the church for ten years. Louis Mentoor and his wife Berenice are dedicated servants of Christ with a passion for souls. They have already proven themselves as leaders in the church."

Ginnie:

"I was saved as a child and surrendered to the mission field as a teenager. While attending Baptist Bible College, God impressed my heart for Ethiopia. However, by the time we had finished our internship the field was closed. God has given me many opportunities to serve Him in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Enfield, Connecticut and for the past seventeen years in Delft, South Africa. It has been a great joy and privilege to see God work in the hearts and lives of the ladies in Faith Baptist Church in Delft.

Going to Ethiopia is a great challenge. Physically it will be a tremendous change from South Africa. Emotionally it means leaving a people whom God has caused us to love. Spiritually it will be a challenge to bring the Gospel to people who are blinded by ritualism and tradition. My great confidence is that God is moving us there and he will provide what we need to reach those precious souls."
